One of the fastest ways into this incredible industry is getting your CNA Training and becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant.  Everyone from nursing homes to hospitals are looking for Certified Nursing Assistants with the proper cna training.  Let’s not forget the private sector, needing qualified assistance from CNA’s working from the patient’s home.

With the population of elderly patient’s ever growing, the need for CNA’s with the proper cna training is becoming for evident.  Taking care of patient’s isn’t like babysitting; you need to be properly training in many different skills.  Maybe the most difficult of skills is to be able to keep you patient at peace and in complete comfort 24 hrs a day.  Most Certified Nursing Assistants work directly under a nurse and must report on any and all physical and mental changes the patient may have.

Required Training

Becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant comes down to your cna training.  Which in different in every state and has it’s own set of requirements to follow as well. So before you can jump into this exciting new career, you need to complete you cna training.  There are many different ways you can complete you training, finding the one for you that works with you schedule and tailors your needs is the way to go.

The first place to start looking for your cna training would possibly be calling you local Red Cross.  The Red Cross not only offers free training in some states but offers training to anyone interested in learning.  So it doesn’t matter if you’re a 10 year veteran of the medical field or a brand new person looking at a career change the Red Cross will help you find your way.  The Red Cross has been offering cna training classes across the country for years and has one of the highest rated programs around.

If you already have employment in the medical field, you could possibly find free cna training as a work study program.  You could get your free  training by committing to a contact with your employer in exchange for your training.   Maybe one year or two year commitment would be needed but you could start work right away.  You could find that your local community college has a program that is just right for you.  Typically a cna training program is 2 to 8 weeks.  Not bad for a fast entrance into an new exiting career.   Your training covers a range of things from dressing, bathing your patients, dementia, repositioning the patients, installing catheters, feeding, dressing and caring for infections, medications, and lots, lots more.

There is a two part test that you need to complete once you complete all your training.  In the first part you will demonstrate you knowledge in written form.  In the second part you will be able to demonstrate you knowledge in a practical form where you have a real person to work with.  After completing the test, YOU’RE DONE.  You get you license and can start work as a Certified Nursing Assistant.   If you love working with people and care for others this would be a perfect fit for you.
